Semifinal Sunday in Colorado

Dick’s Sporting Goods Park/Broomfield Commons — From the top of the Colorado soccer pyramid and the top of the Colorado Amateur Soccer League, two semifinals went into extra time on Sunday. The Rapids beat the Los Angeles Galaxy to reach the MLS Western Conference Finals with a Shkëlzen Gashi aggregate equalizer, stout defending for 120 minutes, and Tim Howard making two saves to finish the shootout early (3–1).

The 12th man at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park included guys who rushed to the stadium after finishing their CASL semifinal. FC Boulder scored first in Broomfield, but Harpo’s FC equalized in the second half and added four more goals before players from both teams shook hands and raced to Commerce City.
