RMAC, SCAC college conference championships conclude

Colorado College, Colorado School of Mines — Two collegiate championships concluded this weekend in Colorado. Current of Colorado photographer John Babiak captured images from Saturday and Sunday.

Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC)

The SCAC tournament quarterfinals took place on Friday, and the semifinals on Saturday featured 11 goals. On Sunday, Trinity University beat Colorado College 1-0 with a penalty kick in the 25th minute to automatically advance to the NCAA tournament. Despite a final 14-3-3 record, Colorado College did not receive an at-large bid. Babiak’s photos are from CC’s semifinal win on Saturday.

Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC)

Colorado School of Mines swept the men’s and women’s RMAC championships. The women’s team beat Fort Lewis 1–0 to win the tournament and will travel to face Texas A&M Commerce in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Tournament on Thursday evening.

Undefeated going into the RMAC tournament 16-0-3, the men’s team beat Mesa State University 3–1 on Sunday afternoon at Stermole Stadium. The Orediggers will host St. Edward’s University on Saturday, November 14 (1:00 p.m. kickoff).
