Stewart Field at Colorado College, Colorado Springs — The Trinity University Tigers beat Texas Lutheran University 5–0 in the first semifinal of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) men’s soccer championships at Colorado College on Saturday. The Colorado College Tigers won the second semifinal, beating Schreiner University 6–0. The SCAC men’s soccer final kicks off Sunday at 1:00 at Colorado College, a Tiger-on-Tiger battle to see who automatically qualifies for the NCAA tournament.
Before the first semifinal, Trinity University (wearing white in video) received recognition for taking first place in the SCAC. They also received a quarterfinal bye, so they started the game with fresh legs and scored four goals in the first half.
The halftime score in the second semifinal was also 4–0. Schreiner University was the bottom seed in the tournament, but a dramatic 1–0 win in extra time on Friday took its toll on the team from Kerrville, Texas. At home at altitude and rested, Colorado College (wearing white) came out shooting from the opening whistle. CC scored in the sixth minute, and the sixth goal was a diving header golazo.
